Live ToyCompany storefront — merchandised for Pakistani parents shopping by age, occasion, and category.
Overview
Every parent in Pakistan knows the drill: a birthday is two days away, the kid wants “that toy from the video,” and the nearest options are a chaotic toy market with no fixed prices — or a marketplace listing where the photos don’t match what arrives.
ToyCompany started in that gap: a dedicated storefront where a parent could search by age or occasion, trust the product matched the photo, and get it delivered before the celebration — not as a bid to disrupt the entire toy industry, but as a focused bet on fixing the frustrations that make online toy buying in Pakistan hard.
The problem
Pakistan’s e-commerce space had plenty of general marketplaces, but almost nothing built around how parents actually shop for toys — age, occasion, trust, and deadline — instead of generic product categories.
- Parents search by age (“gifts for a 4-year-old”), not only by product type
- Imported/reseller listings often break trust when photos don’t match delivery
- Occasion shopping needs reliable timing, not “sometime this week”
- Character and trending toys get buried under unrelated marketplace noise
Building the foundation
Naming for clarity
“ToyCompany” was chosen for clarity over clever wordplay — parents mid-birthday scramble shouldn’t have to decode a brand name to understand what the store sells.
Custom storefront, not marketplace-only selling
Owning product URLs, categorization, and trust copy matters when SEO and conversion depend on age guides, gift finders, and honest product pages — not someone else’s SERP.
Next.js on Vercel
A custom Next.js storefront keeps catalog IA, page speed, and SEO metadata under direct control, with Vercel hosting suited to lean launch and seasonal traffic spikes (Eid, birthdays, back-to-school).
Designed around parent search behavior
Instead of only Category → Subcategory, the catalog emphasizes shop by age, occasion, character/trend, and clearer product presentation — matching how parents actually browse.
Architecture & tech stack
SEO leans into long-tail parent intent rather than head terms owned by Daraz: age + occasion combos (“birthday gift ideas for 5 year old boy Pakistan”), character/trend queries, trust-driven searches (“genuine toys online Pakistan”), and location/urgency phrases. Catalog IA supports age bands (0–2, 3–5, 6–8, 9+), occasion merchandising, and category depth (diecast, RC, baby gear, educational, outdoor/pools) with unique product pages and clean metadata so a new domain can rank for specific intent instead of national head terms.

Key features
Age & interest-based toy finder
Shoppers browse by age band and interests — closer to “toys for a 5-year-old” than a flat building-blocks aisle — plus a gift guide flow for stressed, occasion-driven buyers.
Catalog built for how kids play
Categories cover diecast models, RC cars, baby gear, educational toys, outdoor gear and swimming pools — merchandised as a kids storefront, not a generic “everything” grid.
Local payments & delivery
COD alongside JazzCash, Easypaisa, bank transfer, and cards, with free shipping over Rs. 4,999 and nationwide delivery so checkout matches Pakistani parent preferences.
WhatsApp, tracking & trust content
WhatsApp support for pre-purchase questions, order tracking after checkout, and blog guides that answer gift and age questions while compounding SEO topical authority.
Occasion-aware merchandising
Birthday, Eid, and back-to-school style surfaces help parents find curated picks under time pressure instead of scrolling an entire catalog blind.
Engineering challenges & solutions
Challenge
Earning trust with zero reviews
Solution
Lead with clear product detail and categorization, WhatsApp for pre-purchase questions, local payment options including COD, order tracking, and gift/blog guidance so a new brand feels approachable before review volume exists.
Challenge
Delivery timing for occasion-based shopping
Solution
Treat toys as deadline-driven purchases: nationwide delivery messaging, free shipping thresholds that encourage decisive checkout, and support channels parents can use when a birthday is close.
Challenge
Ranking against giant marketplaces on toy keywords
Solution
Skipped head terms like “buy toys online Pakistan.” Focused on age, occasion, character, and city long-tails a new domain can win, then expanded guides and catalog coverage as authority grows.
Challenge
Keeping assortment useful without pricing out parents
Solution
Structured breadth across diecast, RC, baby, educational, and outdoor — with local payment methods and a free-shipping threshold — so merchandising stays relevant across budgets rather than only premium imports.
Results
- Live storefront shipping at https://toywebsite-psi.vercel.app/
- Dedicated kids/toy brand storefront instead of marketplace-only listings
- Age-based browsing, gift finder, local payments (COD, JazzCash, Easypaisa, bank transfer), and free shipping over Rs. 4,999
- SEO foundation aimed at parent long-tail intent (age, occasion, location) rather than marketplace head terms
What I’d do differently
- For occasion commerce, IA that mirrors how buyers search (age, gift, deadline) beats cloning a generic e-commerce category tree.
- I’d keep expanding age/occasion landing pages and gift-guide content before chasing national head keywords.
- Next steps worth building: curated gift bundles by age/occasion, more SEO gift guides, and city-specific delivery pages as logistics scale.
